Laser Cutting

Laser welding is one of the most versatile welding processes available.

Using a Nd:YAG laser with Fibre Optic beam delivery allows for a wide range of welding, cutting and drilling processes.

There are two basic methods of laser welding, Spot Welding and Keyhole. Spot welding is where there are a sequence of overlapping deep penetration spot welds along the weld line. Keyhole welding is similar to spot welding except the frequency of the pulses maintains a molten pool with a ‘keyhole’ in the centre. As the beam travels forward the pool solidifies behind the beam forming a full penetration weld.  Typical weld depth in 304 stainless steel 3mm.

With 6 axis robot control there is a lot of scope for cutting complex parts. This is suited to light cutting up to 3mm thick.

Need to drill a hole at an angle to the surface? No problem! Whether it’s a 0.3mm hole or larger Laser Drilling makes it easy.
